ABOUT US

inspiring OUR YOUNG PEOPLE TO REACH THEIR FULL POTENTIAL AS PRODUCTIVE, CARING, AND RESPONSIBLE MEMBERS—AND LEADERS—OF OUR COMMUNITY FOR DECADES TO COME.

OUR MISSION

Inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens.

For more than 20 years, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Southwest Michigan has been helping kids aged 6–18 create Great Futures. In addition to recreational and extracurricular activities, Boys & Girls Club provides after-school tutoring to put kids on a path to academic success, mentoring to guide members to create good character and leadership, and proven programming for youth to have access to healthy lifestyles.

Our Commitment to Community

At Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Southwest Michigan, we stand for the future of southwest Michigan’s youth. We celebrate diversity and unequivocally condemn any act of discrimination. Safety, health, dignity, inclusion, and equitable opportunity are essential to our mission and our impact. More importantly, we encourage young people to harness the power of their voices.

OUR HISTORY

Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Southwest Michigan was incorporated in September 1998 in Benton Harbor after the community recognized that its children would benefit from academic support opportunities, recreation, health and life skills, education, and fine arts. They knew it had to be in a safe place with caring, professional adults to mentor, lead and guide them on their developmental path.

Together, Benton Harbor Area Schools, concerned parents, community leaders, and public and private entities, met to conceptualize an affiliation with Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
